These data were collected by Dr. Regina McGrane and students at the University of Iowa in Spring 2024.
Beetles were reared on either in a normal light:dark cycle by setting the rearing container next to a window in the lab (N=6) or in the dark by wrapping the rearing container in foil and placing it next to the window in the lab (N=6). A negative control is also included.
Beetles were reared on adzuki beans.
Beetles were a mix of males and females. 
Beetles were almost certainly mated.
Beetles were adults.
Beetles were from the LB strain.
Beetles were surface-sterilized.
Beetles were extracted with QIAGEN DNA-Easy kits.
Sequences are for the v4 region.
MiSeq sequencing was done by MrDNA labs.
