These data were collected by Dr. Ethell Vereen and Dr. Terrence Gardner and students at Morehouse College in Spring 2023. Virgin male beetles were reared on pigeon peas (N=8). Data set also includes two negative controls. Eggs were laid on sterile glass beads (N=13 samples). Each egg sample consists of eggs from one female (LB strain raised on pigeon peas) laid on 5-6 beads. Beetles were from the LB strain adapted to their host bean for many generations. Beetles were adults and virgin. Beans with eggs isolated in tissue culture plate wells prior to emergence. Beetles were surface-sterilized. Beetles were extracted with QIAGEN DNA-Easy kits. Sequences are for the v4 region. MiSeq sequencing was done by MrDNA labs.
